Charger requiring unplugging after schedule change

Recently purchased Sigenergy Battery with Evnex E2 charger.

Evnex charger requests unplugging after a charging session finishes. This prevents changes to schedules remotely as am not able to unplug and and then plug in again.

im hoping this can be rectified or worked around .

It shouldn’t require unplugging unless the session was ended with “Stop Charging Session” in the app. If you can let us know a specific time when this happened for you we can check the logs to see what happened.

Are you changing the schedule from inside the “Charging Settings” menu?

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

It’s happened so many times I don’t have a specific example.

Im finding it very difficult to set up a charging schedule that works at all to be honest. Which is very frustrating as I expected a better outcome.

I have a 36kw Sigenergy battery and PV system which has lots of setting options so I’m struggling to understand what settings to use to enable the Evnex charger the way I want it to.

Can you please tell me what settings to use to enable the following:

Charging the EV from excess solar between 11am and 4.30pm where the first 6kw goes to the Sigenergy battery and anything more goes to the EV.

Thanks

Paul

On your Evnex charger it sounds like you need a “Simple (daily repeat)” schedule.

  1. Go to Charging SettingsEdit schedule
  2. On the top line set Schedule type to Simple (daily repeat)
  3. Set From to 11:00 and to to 16:30
  4. Set the Behaviour for the top section to Solar Diversion
  5. Set the Behaviour for the bottom section to Don’t charge

This means your charger will offer any excess solar which it sees during this time to your car.

Once you get back into the Charging settings screen, tap Edit behaviour in that middle widget. In the Solar diversion section, turn on My solar system includes a battery. This will ensure we use appropriate thresholds for starting and stopping charging, which will ensure your battery will always get priority.

The 6kW limit for charging the battery itself is something that would need to be set in the Sig app. I’ve looked up the following instructions but can’t be certain they will be for current firmware / app versions.

Path: dashboard → device/system settings → Energy management settings → Power station energy configuration → Battery SettingsBattery Automation.

  1. Toggle Battery Automation on.
  2. Add Time Period → 11:00 to 16:30.
  3. Add your actionBattery Charging.
  4. Set Maximum Charging Power to 6 kW.
  5. Save. Leave the rest of the day unconfigured so it falls back to your normal operational mode.

One important distinction before you pick the field: Maximum Charging Power is the maximum total input power for charging, including all charging sources, while Maximum Charging Power From grid to BAT caps only grid-to-battery input and must be ≤ the total figure. So:

  • Want the battery to never charge faster than 6 kW regardless of source → set Maximum Charging Power = 6 kW.
  • Want to cap grid import at 6 kW but still soak all available solar → leave total uncapped and set Maximum Charging Power From grid to BAT = 6 kW.

Worth knowing:

  • Battery Automation takes priority over other settings once configured, so within 11:00–16:30 you’re overriding AI mode’s optimisation, not layering on top of it.
  • If you want a permanent cap rather than a scheduled one, the simpler control is Battery Power Limit → Battery Max Charging Power in the same Battery Settings screen — this sets the maximum charging input power allowed by the battery with no time dimension.
  • Some Sigenergy parameters are installer-tier. If Battery Automation doesn’t appear, check you’re on a current app version, then ask your installer — they can set it via their login
