Just had our E2 fitted and setting up the electricity pricing rates. We’re with Ecotricity on their Eco Saver plan with 2 peak periods per weekday (7am - 11am & 5pm - 9pm) with Off peak at all other times including all weekend. How to set up for two peak periods per weekday?
At the moment I’m afraid that exact setup can’t be done. We’ve found a couple of tariff types that we can’t yet support and will be adding support for them at some point in the new year.
For now your best bet would probably be to use Peak / Offpeak / Night and set the Offpeak and Night costs to be almost the same (it won’t let them be identical but you could choose something like 17.00c and 17.01c or something like that. Then you can tick the “Weekends differ from weekdays” button. I appreciate that this is a bit clunky but it should get your costs to be pretty accurate!
+1 on this request.
I created an account here specifically for this, and a bit disappointed to see talk of it from years ago with no progress. If my <$100 office heater can support multiple charging schedules, I definitely expect it from a smart EV charger.
I am on a similar power plan to an earlier poster; multiple off-peak periods during the weekday, and off-peak weekends. Right now, I can set elec pricing that reflects those periods, but not enable/disable the charging beyond day vs night. It seems like you’re 90% of the way there with this feature and I’d really appreciate the little push to deliver it please.
Cheers and have a great day
Like many who have posted here over the last 2 years, I’m on Octopus’s Peaker plan, so have Peak, Off-Peak, and night rates for both Import and export. I also have a battery.
With my Peak export rate higher than my night import - I do not want my car to charge from Solar during the peak.
I believe with the future version of the driver app (hopefully available beginning of 2025), we will support the ability to chose a period of the day where the charger will not charge (via either grid or solar diversion).
This should allow you to set the schedule/times of the day (Mon-Sun) that you don’t want to charge when the car is plugged in.
The improved scheduling capability was released earlier today in an app update so check for version 3.18 on the App / Play Store.
It works in conjunction with charger firmware 2.6 and above for E-series and X-series, or 1.4 and above for R-series. The vast majority have already been updated but if yours is one which hasn’t then please wait a few days and if it still hasn’t happened call or email our support team.
It’s great to see that pricing can vary for peak and off-peak periods. Has there been any progress on the concept of allowing apartment buildings (owners corporations, body corporates) to set pricing for all chargers at their site in a manner where it can’t be changed or overridden by the vehicle/charger owner? The chargers at our site are (& will be) owned by individual apartment owners but the electricity is provided by the owners corporation and we need to recoup the cost from the owners. The electricity supply (to the owners corp) has rates for peak and off-peak and it would be ideal to have the system allow users to charge overnight at the cheaper rate and have the reports reliably reflect the cost of supply to each charger for the billing period.
I can’t change the tariffs on my 2nd charger, as it says they must be changed on the load management charger. I am stuck with a flat rate of 30c all the time.
On the load management charger, the (Electric Kiwi movemaster) tariffs are all setup, but I cannot share the details with the 2nd charger.
So I am unable to see my charging costs on the app. I get a free hour of power every day, and use solar diversion the rest of the time, so 30c/hr gives me garbage information. Would it be possible to copy/share the tariffs with my other charger, or even set them up independently?
We’ve manually copied those tariffs over for you so your second charger will now use the same pricing as your first.
We’ve got a piece of work on our roadmap to make this something which you can easily handle yourself (plus some better visibility of what the second charger is being told to do by the first one so you know how it will behave). It’s not got a confirmed start date yet and so won’t be in the short / medium term, but it is in the pipeline.
I had a look and can see “Shoulder” at 36c which is the correct import rate for the middle of today. However, the charger behaviour for 10am to 5pm is set to Solar diversion, so I never actually import power for the charger at that rate.
You have provision for a single export rate, but clearly you are not currently using it to replace the import rate when Solar Diversion is the operating behavior. I hope that is also on your roadmap? An easy workaround is to add a new tariff “Solar Diversion” for 11.5c and use that to represent my opportunity cost instead of the never-used import rate. I just did this on the load management charger.
Could I get you to please copy this over to the other charger again?
The server charger knows when energy is locally generated and will use the export rate as the (opportunity) cost of charging from local excess.
Because the client charger doesn’t know where the energy is coming from (only the server has that measurement) it will always assume the grid price at that time.
That’s another of the cases which will need to be factored in when we do the piece of work described above.
