# Feature Request - Controlling the max. power used for charging

The evnex integration in home assistant allowed to set a maximum charging power which was very convenient to use with solar on a cloudy day. So obviously the charger (E7) has the feature build in. Would be wonderful to have it in the app itself.

Hi there.
The charger does include solar diversion as a native capability which is available from the app, and which ramps up and down as solar excess varies due to cloud cover etc. Is this able to achieve your goals or is there something missing from its capability?

Hi Tom.
If it would be like that it would be just fine. In my experience though it’s different. Solar diversion was set at “Start” at 5kW export and “Stop” at 0.2 kW import.
Unfortunately the current doesn’t go down, instead it uses the grid to top-up so I stopped it manually (can’t attach a screenshot).
I’m using a E7-T2S-GC charger, Firmware 2.6.0.D98B4AF.
Maybe there is a USER mistake somewhere?
On the other hand it would be nice to be able to set the max. load manually as the home assistant integration allows - just to save battery life.

Hi Christian.
It looks to me like your settings are the opposite from that? After a quick look I’d suggest a “Start” of 1500W export and a “Stop” of 500W import for your system. You can call our support team on 0800 395 007 to help walk you through it if that doesn’t work - they’re very good at optimising solar configurations!

Hi. The main benefit I can see for having the ability to set the max power is due to demand tariffs, which are based on the maximum electricity used over a specific period of time - usually 15 or 30 min periods. e.g. If I can pull 3kW throughout the day instead off 7kW, that makes my electricity bill much cheaper each month, so it would be good to have this ability
