Restricted charging rate

We have a bright sunny day here today and I’m again seeing our Evnex EVSE’s charging rate limited to ~6.2kW. The inverter supplying the phase that the Evnex is on is reaching its 8.2kW maximum generation rate at times while I’m seeing 6.2kW being supplied to our Polestar2 with 1.0kW being exported. Why is this export occurring when the Evnex is operating at less than its rated capacity?

The details of the EVSE from its label are: E2-03879.

The charger reduced output as it was getting too hot internally. Does it get direct sunlight at that time of day? A bit later on it was back to offering full speed so I think it could be something like that making it warmer than usual?

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

The EVSE is on the inside of a north facing wall so not only fully shaded but the shed is in turn shaded by a large tree. Also daytime peak temperatures are maxing out at around 15 degrees here lately so I’m suspicious any internal heating may be more symptomatic of the unit failing.

It sounds like you have performance stat’s logged so is it possible to supply me with these so I can correlate these against those of our inverter in regards to subpar performance vs rate of exported generation?

The support team can probably provide a data export (most of it is what is already visible in the session history in the app). Please could you send a request to support@evnex.com detailing the times you are looking for?

Kind regards,

Tom
