I have loaded the Amber API for our E2 Plus charger. Unfortunately this setup seems to only want to work when solar is being generated. This means the only way I can charge at night is to use the ‘Charge Now’ button.
It is ignoring the price parameters that are configured.
Your charger will charge using just your excess solar when the price lies between the two thresholds (15c - 27c), and will charge at full speed using any excess solar plus energy from the grid when the price is below the lower threshold (15c).
If the price at night does not fall below 15c at any point then there won’t be any charging (since there won’t be any excess solar).
Have you identified a time when the price is below 15c but the charger is not charging? If so, could you let me know when that has happened, and also your charger serial number so I can look into it? If you would prefer to send these privately you can email them to support@evnex.com.
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately the cheapest time to buy from the grid is generally between 10 & 2, usually 8-15cents. The 2nd cheapest time to charge is usually from around 2:30am, ~25cents. If we need an overnight charge this is when we want to be charging.
I have switched back to the advanced schedule function so I don’t miss out on a charge when I need it.
It would be great if the advanced schedule function could be combined with the Amber pricing import. So that multiple charge windows could be created based on live prices. I’d like to be able to do something like:
If time is between 10:00 and 14:00, and prices is less than 17 → Charge
If time is between 2:00 and 10:00, and price is less than 26 cents → Charge
Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. I’ll see what can be done as we start to build out more complex scheduling and load management capabilities within the charger.
