SOC-based charging rules for cheap overnight tariffs

Feature Request: SOC-based charging rules for cheap overnight tariffs

It would be great to have more flexible charging rules based on the vehicle’s current Tesla SOC.

For example, I use Solar Soak during the day and would normally prefer to charge from excess solar. However, many electricity plans have a significantly cheaper overnight period, such as 12am–6am.

I’d like to be able to configure something like:

SOC ≥ 80%: Solar Soak only, don’t use grid overnight.

SOC 20–80%: Use cheap overnight electricity to reach a configurable target.

SOC < 20%: Prioritise charging during the cheap-rate window.

Allow the user to configure the SOC thresholds, target SOC and charging window.

Ideally this could work alongside the existing Solar Soak functionality rather than replacing it.

The basic idea is: use solar when solar is economical, but if the car is genuinely low on charge, take advantage of cheap overnight electricity rather than waiting for the next day’s solar.

With vehicle SOC already being available through the Tesla integration, this feels like a really useful next step for making the charger genuinely “smart”.

This would be particularly useful for EV owners on time-of-use tariffs.

Agreed this is a good idea - we’ve got something like it on our medium term roadmap. No firm dates yet but it is something we’re expecting to build.

Kind regards,

Tom
