Solar diversion and AC Coupled Batteries

With AC Coupled batteries can the E2 Plus detect when the solar is exporting and not being used by the AC Coupled battery?

Adding E2 Plus Charger to an existing Solar + Battery

Hi Lindsay,

Good question!

Yes, it can, the E2 Plus would detect that your solar inverter is exporting once your solar battery is fully charged, meaning while your solar battery is being charged, if all your solar generation is going into the solar battery the charger would be in stand by as it would not see any solar surplus export to the grid, until your system started exporting over the minimum amount to have the vehicle taking current.

Happy to help and provide a quote if you email sales@evnex.com.

Hi, I posted a separate thread with question about battery and solar diversion in E2. I didn’t received any response or guidance. My battery installation is next week I really appreciate if someone in your team can confirm and provide guidance on the installation set up.

Thanks

Hi Adriant,

Apologies about that, I have now posted a reply on your thread.

Just wanted to follow on from this.

There are instances where when I wake up I still have 50% charge in my home battery and will be leaving for work with plenty residual battery. By around 7:30am the solar has started producing so my battery on a sunny day is usually topped up by midday. I have currently got an automation to export battery till 10am if there is excess by 8am to squeeze out extra FIT.

What I am wondering however is will the E2 plus be able to channel that excess export back to the car? I’d rather top up the car with excess battery than sell it to the grid for minimal gains comparatively. This isn’t a common occurrence and would virtually never happen in winter except in rare cases.

I assume the e2 would just see this as “excess solar being exported” not knowing where it’s coming from and charge the car?
