Adding home battery and how it impacts communication with charger

Hi, I’m conscious I have asked this through technical support but I needed a clearer answer as to how best to install the home battery (Anker X1) without compromising the feature such as Solar diversion and monitoring of home usage (new feature I saw this week) in my Evnex.

Can you please advise what i need to be aware of when installing the battery (or reminding my battery installer?) How should I tell them to install the home battery so that it doesn’t affect the CT CLAMPS or reading of my Evnex?

Hi Adriant,

Apologies about the late response.

Basically, as long as the battery installer doesn’t touch the charger’s CT or supply nothing should change in the app or charger’s capabilities to do solar diversion.

The only thing to keep in mind, and this will depend on your preference, is if you want the charger to charge from your solar battery at night time or if you just want the charger to take from the grid and never take from the solar battery.

So if you don’t want the charger to take from the solar battery the solar installer should:

  1. Make sure that is the solar battery has a CT it is not monitoring the supply to the charger, meaning they would need to clamp it on the load side of the main supply switch and leave the supply to the charger outside of the CT clamp.

  2. Making sure the supply to the charger’s RCBO is left untouched and taking it directly from the main supply switch, **before the solar battery gateway.
