FR Ford Mustang MachE GT

My ford mustang Mach e got is set to only charge to 80% of battery capacity, yet when we use our ENvex E2-28VO, it charges our ev to 100%. Is there anyway we can set your charger to only do 80% or is there some software we can download to our charger to ensure this happens?

Hi there.

AC chargers like Evnex ones aren’t able to signal a charge limit to the car (or read the state of charge), so they can’t override whatever limit is set in the vehicle.

Some vehicles have a “location-aware” limit, so it may be that your car is inadvertently set to charge to 100% at home and 80% elsewhere, which might explain why you get a different experience using your Evnex charger?

Thanks Tom, car set to 80% at all locations unless I change it. I think the problem may be when you use the charge now function on your equipment, as every time we have used this feature it charges the car to 100%. When we use our level 1 15amp charger, it will only charge the car to 80%. As we cannot get wifi in the shed where the charger is located ( due to distance) could this pose a problem for the Enex?

The Charge Now feature sends exactly the same signal to the car as happens during scheduled charging (it just does it immediately instead of waiting). So I don’t think that would make any difference to how much the car charges, just when it charges.

Permanent internet access is not needed, and your charger has a built-in 4G SIM so it should be able to get cell coverage unless you are in a real blackspot or your shed is blocking all signal.
